Waterhorse: The Legend of the Deep
Waterhorse: The Legend of the Deep
Waterhorse is a delightful story about a Scottish boy who finds an egg shaped object on the seashore. He takes it home where it hatches into a water serpent. He raises it in the family bathtub until it grows too big and must be released into the loch. Meanwhile, a troop of British soldiers has moved onto the estate where his Mom is housekeeper. Their job is to defend Scotland against invading German submarines. Their leader is a desk soldier full of cocky unmerited braggadocio. Also, a caretaker has moved onto the estate and the kid lets him in on the secret. His past is mysterious but the kid and his older sister begin to have fun again for the first time since their father's ship's sinking by the Germans a year ago. But soon the water horse is the size of small ship and his head can be mistaken for a submarine periscope.
Really a delightful story that both kids and adults will enjoy. It is certainly the best kids' movie in a while.
Happy New Year!
