Juno

I stuck around the theatre and saw Juno which is excellent. As you also probably know, this is a very funny comedy about a quirky 16 year old who gets pregnant and picks a couple from the want ads to adopt the baby. Her family is very supportive. The acting is excellent and the story is morally uplifting (if you ignore that it is about a single pregnant 16 year old). Very very enjoyable. I laughed a lot.

I have to admit that I am disturbed to see teenage pregnancy glorified and made to seem almost normal, easy to handle and maybe even fun. And it is not just this film, but others, TV shows and real-life teenage actresses that seem to be carrying this bad idea (teenage pregnancy) forward.

cheers,

Well so much for my slow response to review for Juno .  Your comments were very , very close to my own feelings on these movies. I did appreciate that they didn't make the guy a total bumbling fool in this movie, but still he was a much weaker character than Juno.  Did you see some similarities in the character of Juno and yourself as a young woman? Did you ever see yourself as a type of rebel, albeit different than other rebel types.  I could point out a lot traits in you as a young lady that could have been predictors of your future self. I'm no psychologist either, but I see many traits in myself as a young man that plague me today, and worse have caused a lot of friction with my boys as they exhibit or display the worst of these to me like walking mirror images. It has been hard not to be overly judgemental as I see the worst things I hate about myself, walking in my own house.

Boy aren't you right!  I see things in my Dad in myself....things I don't like, plus things I do.

Yeah I've been a rebel not by trying to be a rebel just by never following the crowd and always doing my own thing and my own beliefs. In some ways we are a lot alike only you talk 100 times more than I do.

Hah!
