The Band's Visit
The Band's Visit. This quiet, little and simple film is a lovely story about an eight member police band from Egypt that travels to Israel for a cultural exchange. The band gets lost and ends up in some dead little town in the middle of nowhere Israeli desert. A woman and a couple of guys in the town take them in for the night until they can catch a bus back out of town to where they're supposed to be the next day.
What occurs during these 18 or so hours is a warm human exchange of kindness, understanding and feeling between the individual members of the band and their hosts. The only language they (sort of) have in common is English so they converse in broken English. Just a lovely warm quiet movie. Do see this one. The more I reflect on this film, the more I like it.
