Get Low
Get Low is an entertaining story about an old hermit Felix Bush, played by Robert Duvall, in the 30's who after 40 years comes out of his cabin in the woods and decides he wants a "funeral party" before he dies. At this party he will explain to all assembled why he went into hiding and will raffle off his house and 300 acres. Duvall is always good, Sissy Spacek is good as the long lost sister to the one woman Felix loved. Bill Murray plays the funeral home owner who is eager to accommodate Felix and Lucas Black plays the very ethical young man who is Murray's salesman. Gerald McRaney plays the old black preacher who knows Felix's story.
There are some funny scenes with Duvall's cantankerous man-of-few-words character Felix, Murray's frustration with Felix, and a fair amount of heart felt sentiment. There are a few lose ends that never get tied up. Entertaining and very enjoyable, but not outstanding. Definitely not Duvall's best. I'd give it a B.
