Solitary Man
I saw Solitary Man today starring Michael Douglas. He sure looks his age in this film and given the point of the film, is intended to.
Douglas plays a once successful NY car dealership mogul about to turn 60 who through greed and philandering has lost his wife (Susan Sarandon), is about to loose his daughter and grandson. All this in spite of a big new dealership deal he is trying to fix even though the car company wants nothing to do with him after his conviction for fraud against them. The guy will seduce anything that moves, including his much younger girlfriend's daughter, his daughter's friends and is a vain prime narcissist. Basically he is easy to despise more and more as the story goes on.
Movie is well acted and will probably earn Douglas a Best Actor nomination (but not likely the title). Story is a lesson in glib amoral greed and self-indulgence where Michael seems to one by one destroy all of his relationships. Very worth seeing.
