Vanessa Redgrave at 73 is more of a babe than most women half her age.  Not only is she a graceful and talented veteran actor but has an alluring quality that seems not only to endure but actually has gotten better with age. Here she gets to play a wise grandmother giving out advice to a grandson on love and is the long lost love of Lorenzo played by Franco Nero. . oh, the tell tale signs of age are there but below the surface is a very believable character that over 50 years earlier left a letter for Juliet in Verona.  When a an aspiring writer, Sophie,  played by Amanda Seyfried answers the long lost letter it sets off a chain of events that sends Sophie, Claire ( Vanessa Redgrave ), and her grandson son Charlie (Chris Egan) looking Claire's long lost lover , Lorenzo. 

If you forget this is one of the best  romantic comedy love stories in years, no matter!.  Tuscany will fill the time and void while you laugh, cry , and  fall in love with it !  “The Motorcycle Diaries" Gael Garcia Bernal plays an obsessed chef and current  love interest to Sophie. As fine an actor as he is , he will have to be the fall guy but with a gentle touch. 

The adventure has it's funny moments, but the ending is destined from the start and there are very few surprises.  A few wrinkles getting there, but again the most fun thing for me was to see that they finished the reconstruction on the Duomo in Siena from when I was there last, and I got to see some wonderful shots of many Tuscan Villas that I missed in my travels around the country side. 

Verona here I come!
