The Book Of Eli

Denzel Washington stars in a post-apocalyptic tale of a man on a quest with a book.  It has all the requirements of  a good western.  A bad guy that runs the dry sparse desert town, the the bad sheriff's muscle, the town prostitute and a world where water is gold.  ( Almost like now?) Eli is fast with knives, guns, hands, and almost any weapon.  There is a lot of action and of course the required moral dilemmas.  I watched it several weeks ago and came away with the feeling the movie , for it's genre,  was easy to watch in spite of all the violence.  Of course there is a battle over the book with the sheriff ( Gary Oldman).  His character reminded me to much of the same character in The Fifth Element years earlier, but that is just my opinion.  There are some interesting twists and surprises at the end that I should not talk about.
