The Fantastic Mr. Fox
The Fantastic Mr. Fox is a great little fun movie. It is animated. Supposedly it is a kid's movie but I thought it suited adults quite well. In fact, I think that kids under 10 may not enjoy this film.
I loved the fox family - so cute- and the other animals who team up with them - badgers, moles, bunnies and more. And the bad guys (the evil farmers, especially one who was quite Stalinesque) were really bad. Granted, Mr. Fox did go after the farmers with determination and very effectively so you can't really blame the farmers for wanting to be rid of the Fox family. However, there is considerable cruel excess by the farmers. But then, I like the cute foxes and their animal friends more than the farmers in any case.
There are good lessons for all who see this film...mostly about celebrating our differences and using our different skills to build an effective team. Also about family and responsibility. Mrs. Fox is very patient with her "animal instinct" driven husband but ultimately strong. And her challenged son ultimately makes good for the entire family, his rival and cousin included.
See this one...it is fun and you'll leave the theatre with a smile.
The Yahoo Movies web site summary is
Mr and Mrs Fox live an idyllic home life with their son Ash and visiting young nephew Kristopherson. But after 12 years, the bucolic existence proves too much for Mr Fox's wild animal instincts. Soon he slips back into his old ways as a sneaky chicken thief and in doing so, endangers not only his beloved family, but the whole animal community. Trapped underground and with not enough food to go around, the animals band together to fight against the evil Farmers -- Boggis, Bunce and Bean -- who are determined to capture the audacious, fantastic Mr Fox at any cost.
