The Power of Of One
I mentioned that I might post some reviews from some older movies. i watched " The Power of One" . A 1992 movie with the central theme about the evils in the beginning of the Apartheid system. staring Doc (Armin Mueller-Stahl), a friend of P.K's grandfather, a political prisoner (Morgan Freeman) , and the central character, P.K. as an 18 yr old (Stephen Dorff) .
As a small Boy P.K. , is English while in a boarding school for Afrikaners, is picked on by the school bully. As WWII starts doc is taken into custody by the English as he is German in South Africa. There he learns to box by Morgan Freeman's character. Fast forward to 1948 when South Africa is formed and you have P. K as a Senior in High School , and the country is starting it's long term struggle against Apartheid.
Fabulous music, made just 2 years BEFORE the end of Aparthied , even a good love story mixed in. As tragic a time in history as this was, there is a lot of good hope coming from the people and the story.
Good acting, recommended if you have not seen it, Netflix you can stream it or get the DVD.
