Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

By Dr. Lin Zucconi

Hi friends...

I saw the latest Indiana Jones movies today. Boy Harrison Ford has sure aged in the last 20 years....yes it has been that long! He runs around pretty well in this latest Jones adventure movie. He fights way too long and too often  -  I think that the amount of violence is up over the older Indiana Jones movies.  This detracts from the film.

Cate Blanchett is the evil Soviet heroine (she's a Soviet hero). I didn't recognize her with black straight hair and a rather wooden over-the-top performance. Shia LeBeouf does very well as Jones' son. He is all set up to take over the Indiana Jones series from his dad.

Overall the movie is fun, not at all boring though it starts off rather ham-fisted. It seems to take the actors 15 to 20 minutes into the movie to warm up to their incredible (as in not very credible) parts. In the end it is enjoyable and the ending is certainly happy in the classic guy gets the girl (though both are middle aged at best) way.

My favourite is still the Indiana Jones movie (The Last Crusade) where Sean Connery played the hero's father and the best scene is the one on the beach where Connery flaps his umbrella to save the day. No one can beat Connery for aging well.

Go see it in the theatre...don't wait for the DVD. Indiana Jones is too much the fun adventure  movie to watch on a small screen. You will have a good time.

cheers,

Lin

This is the first movie I've seen in the theaters this year and I wasn't that impressed. Overall it was a fun 2 hours but the plot was a little thin, even for an Indiana Jones movie. In this day and age I was hoping they could have tied up a few loose ends and make some of the action sequences a little more plausible. It was worth the matinee price but if I made this a Friday night event I would have been disappointed.
