For once I have to write a review about a movie and the people in it and feel obliged NOT to tell you about it!  7Seven pounds is that type of movie.  I hope others will keep it under wraps as well. 

There are hints about Ben Thomas's motives for all of his benevolence toward  others, bit nothing to give the plot away.  He murderously tortures a blind salesman / piano player Ezra ( Woody Harrelson ) over the phone.  We don't know why? It doesn't seem to fit the man.   And why is Ben, with a not a real clear background in his education and expertise, an IRS agent chasing down what at first might be a random selection and how does he afford a what can only be described as a beachfront home in some area like Malibu on that income ?

When he is first is checking out  Emily (Rosairo Dawson ) he behaves almost like a stalker.  Later as the two of them start to find an emotional moment , he cuts it off abruptly with phony excuses, but clearly is in love with the woman as she is with him.   Sound emotional roles in this screenplay are of course Will Smith playing the title role, Rosario Dawson as Emily and even with only a small amount of screen time you will be forced to like  and have nothing but the best thoughts for Woody Harrelson's character Ezra. 

The only hint at what might be happening comes in the form of small flash backs, and the emotional trauma of Ben's childhood friend,  Dan,  played by  Barry Pepper as the whole precisely choreographed list of events unfolds.

In the end you may guess what is happening as each person receives a remarkable gift that is specific and important to their future.  Thought provoking for sure, I had dreams about it after I saw it.  This is one of those movies that people who have seen it will want to talk among themselves but not around others that have not seen it.
